Funding
The Hunchman Trust has recently agreed a new grant with Jigsaw South East, funding their Teenage Grief Support Project. This project focuses on giving teenagers a safe, consistent space to explore grief, build resilience, and feel less alone during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. Designed with input from young people who have experienced bereavement themselves, it is shaped by what teenagers actually need. It recognises that grief during adolescence can affect mental health, education, relationships, and long-term wellbeing, often in ways that are hard to articulate or navigate alone. Through one-to-one support, peer group sessions, and creative therapeutic activities, teenagers aged 13 to 18 are able to process their experiences in a way that feels manageable and relevant to them. The difference this makes is clear.
Young people have space to talk openly, to connect with others who understand what they are facing, and to begin making sense of their grief without pressure or judgement.
Support extends beyond the individual. Families, schools, and community settings are given guidance so that teenagers are met with understanding and consistency in the spaces they already move through. By reaching young people early, this work helps reduce the longer-term impact of unresolved grief. It gives teenagers the tools to cope, communicate, and move forward with greater confidence. Your support is helping create something steady at a time when everything can feel uncertain.
